A Brazilian wax involves the waxing of pubic hair (both front and back) such that there is no foliage left. With men going in for Brazilian waxes for the same reasons that women go in for them, there has never been a greater demand for this form of hair removal. Why has this beauty ritual gotten to be so popular lately? A high number of men are looking into their personal grooming and taking to the metrosexual drive. In that direction then and with a means to an end approach, the Brazilian bikini wax for men is getting popular. Also, with men's clothing getting skimpier and skimpier and the swimming trunks getting bolder and bolder, it just isn't the right etiquette to have tufts of hair peeking out from down under for display. So then this form of waxing is used as a method by which one can sport shorts without getting cringes thrown their way, and to escape from the scrapes and cuts that other forms of hair removal can bring along. Let's find out more about this method and how to carry it out on your own.

What it Involves

Brazilian waxing for either men or women is much, much more tough than regular waxing because it involves getting rid of hair from the pubic area. This area is one of the most sensitive areas in the human body and therefore, the pain that one experiences when waxing this area is much more intense. That is why many people prefer to take some form of numbing agents or pain killers before going in for this form of waxing. While many prefer to let a professional handle this one, there are several who prefer to carry forth the same at home because of the privacy it offers. And while this might be a feasible option, you need to handle the whole deal with care. Here are some tips that you should look into to understand what it requires and how a professional salon will handle the same.
  • Have a bath before the session so that the hair and skin is softened and doesn't hurt as much (very important tip).
  • Take an anti-inflammatory pill about an hour before the session so that aftercare becomes easier.
  • Make sure that the hair is allowed to grow at least half to an inch in length. The longer the hair is, the better it is for the waxing and it doesn't hurt as much. So don't trim or shave the area for at least 2 weeks before.
  • Use only reputed products if you're doing this at home.
  • Dust the area with talcum powder so that it soaks in all the excess moisture. If there is sweat, the wax won't hold to the skin.
  • Heat the wax till it has melted. But be very, very careful with this and cool it off sufficiently till it is warm, but not hot. If you use hot dripping wax on your skin, it could lead to severe burns.
  • Take a wax stick and test the wax a little with your fingertips to see if it is cool enough for you to bear. If it seems too hot then blow on it till it has cooled down a little.
  • Then very slowly apply a thin layer in the direction of the hair growth.
  • Use disposable cloth strips and cover the wax. Smooth the cloth over the area with your hands and pull the skin taut.
  • In one swift motion, pull the strip away from the skin in the opposite direction of hair growth.
  • Pace yourself going at the rate of how much pain you can bear and continue to do this inch by inch.
  • Wash off the area with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer to the skin as an important step of the Brazilian wax aftercare.
Brazilian waxing can get to be a complicated process, especially if you're not used to it. So if you can't get the help of a partner to do it for you, you're better off in the hands of a professional.

A Brazilian wax is known to generate much better results because it delays hair growth and provides for an absolutely smooth surface that no amount of shaving or trimming can provide. That is why many men have started taking to this form. So then? Think you are man enough for a Brazilian wax?
